I am Gilles. I like to play music, do science (but only for work) and think about the future of things, in particular the internet and democracy.
Why I write this blog
This is my own corner of the internet where I share my opinions and knowledge about things. There are 3 advantages to this situation relative to posting my stories on, e.g., LinkedIn or SubStack.
- I own this corner. So I can say what I want. If LinkedIn turns X, I do not need to move anywhere. (see also this post, which is in Dutch and German, but you likely speak either of these languages anyway)
- I don’t bother anyone. Do you like people who write quasi inspirational semi-long-reads on LinkedIn? Then you’re alone in that fetish. Most people hate it. I hate it. Here, everyone is free not see my smart reflections on anything. Thereby, I feel totally Peter R.
- I’m not a slave. Someone with such great ideas as the ones you can read on this blog would never be so stupid to let some American tech firm own his words. No, these words are mine. They may be worthless to you, or ugly, or pretentious. But they’re mine.
